It is no doubt that India is the youngest and the most vibrant countries in the world and recognising the essence of its creativity is of the utmost importance. There is no better time than now to bring manufacturing in the country to the spotlight, to showcase it on a global level.
The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), which is a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs, is a vital portal for SMEs to connect to other business persons all over the world. They have 5 offices in India including Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Kerala. Similarly, Power2SME is an online platform that bridges the gap between SMEs and their raw material suppliers for smooth flow of business. The collaborative efforts of TiE Delhi and Power2SME is taking a bright step forward through the fourth edition of the annual ‘Spirit of Manufacturing Awards’, which aims to celebrate bright minds that have come up with innovative and fresh ideas and solutions in the field of manufacturing and business. To be hosted in Delhi in the month of December alongside TiECON 2017, the Spirit of Manufacturing recognises Make in India business stories that have seen success and reward their entrepreneurial skills, being open to startups that are less than 10 years old. Awards are based on four categories, namely:
- Innovation and IT Adoption
- Social Impact
- Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, and
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year
The announcement for the Spirit of Manufacturing awards was first formally addressed in 2013, and the first edition in July 2014 received over 170 applications. Speaking about the launch of the 4th edition, R Narayan, Founder and CEO of Power2SME said, “While India is paving its way to become a global manufacturing hub and is cheering for the Make in India campaign, Power2SME and TiE aim to take this enthusiasm to the next level with the Spirit of Manufacturing Awards where young manufacturing firms are the centre of the celebration and recognised for the good work they are doing.”
